Custom designed and built. The project included deconstruction of a smaller two level wood deck and installing new framing, gas line stubs with quick disconnect for BBQ grills and new Trex® Transcend Island Mist decking and fascia. The new deck gained an additional 200 square feet, and except for steps to access the house at two locations it was all one level. We also removed a post and installed new structural beams at the deck cover and installed a downspout drain system taking water away.
There are several ways a deck could be finished. And while we love the look of a beautiful wood deck system, this is not our area of specialization. Mountain Modern Design+Build focuses on using composite decking materials, concrete deck tile systems and fabricated wood tile systems to finish out the decks we build. We believe this fits with our sustainable direction of building. Composite decks finished with Trex®, Fiberon®. Timbertech® and even other composite decking systems provide a beautiful and sustainable deck system that when paired with a framing system that is installed correctly and waterproofed as best it can be, and utilizing materials which have be made to last, can last beyond the typical warranty period for the actual decking surface materials. Check out the Trex®, Fiberon® and Timbertech® links below. These are the composite decking materials Mountain Modern Design+Build typically works with, but there are several lines of composite decking that can be utilized.

While Mountain Modern does not focus on building decks finished with natural wood decking, we do love the look of a wood deck system. The beauty of a finely finished natural wood deck is hard to beat. The look of wood simply cannot be replicated better than by Mother Nature herself. Because we love the look of a wood deck system however, we now work with a system provide by Bison Innovative Products from there wood tile line of products. These tiles install much like the concrete tile system, however they are definitely not to be used in a paver type situation. Check out the information below and visit the link we have provided for Bison Wood Tiles.
