HOME ADDITIONS AND REMODELING

Our home remodeling and renovation projects and home addition projects are not just focused around a mountain modern design. We specialize in working with many different styles and in designing and building based off each clients specific needs, wants, goals and dreams. Mountain Modern Design+Build focuses using many of the same methods and practices we utilize in the design and building of our custom homes and other building systems. We focus on Zero Energy Ready and sustainability practices.  We focus our additions & renovations around the same standard we strive to utilized when building a new home, integrating as much as we can where it matters most. 

At Mountain Modern Design+Build, we believe in a collaborative design process in our residential building design, construction management and design build services, custom homes and remodeling services and our outdoor living environment design and building services that involves our clients every step of the way. Our process follows three steps.

1. The initial phone consultation - this is a basic conversation to determine if what you are looking to accomplish is a good fit for what we do. Remodeling, additions and renovations, while having many of the same aspects of new construction, are also there own specialized area of design and building as well. We value our client relationships and in doing so we want to ensure that we are the right family owned business to provide you that working relationship.
2. Onsite meeting or in-person consultation and meeting. This is typically on onsite meeting taking place where the work will be conducted. Further discussion regarding your goals, ideas and plans will take place as well as gathering basic information from the project site to allow Mountain Modern Design+Build to create a cost to begin the planning steps.
3. The Project Proposal.  This step involves review of the costs to build the project, making selections and decisions, proposed scheduling and  reviewing the construction agreement terms and conditions to ensure we  have addressed any concerns or specific requirements before executing  the agreement. And the final step is executing the construction  agreement to finalize the building schedule and proposed start date. 
4. Planning, Estimating and Pre-Construction. This stage is focused around building the plans and designs, refining  plans and designs and creating a target budget range with an estimated  cost to build as well as pre-construction tasks like permitting  requirements, scheduling and construction management tasks required to  prepare and start the project itself. 
5.  Start Construction. This stage can often being one of the most exciting times of the  construction process and also the most chaotic depending on the project  itself. A home remodel could involve some major changes for the clients  depending on the overall scope of work being conducted. Rest assured  Mountain Modern Design+Build will be watching out for you. 
6.  Construction is Underway. This is the work phase of the construction process where things are  changing often rapidly with the final goal of completing the project in  the allotted time and within the cost budget for the project. Depending  on the project various decisions are being made and communications  regarding inspections, monthly costs, changes and variations to the  project may be happening. 
7.  Final Inspections and Closeout. This stage typically includes final inspections and certificates of occupancy (C of O) being issued, final walk-thru inspections with the client and final cleanup of the project. This stage might also include  commissioning services of ventilation equipment and other items as  required prior to turn over to the client as this applies to the project  itself. 

Having a good plan, we feel is absolutely vital to the success of home remodeling and renovation and home addition projects, or really any building project for that matter. Not matter if the project is of a mountain modern design, or another style based on our clients needs, wants and goals.  Our zero energy ready focused residential design-build plans are based on the jurisdiction and building code requirements as well as out clients needs, wants and goals. But we take that several steps further to ensure the details and information required to not only gather accurate cost proposals, but also to build the project are available. A good plan should reflect how the project will be built. We don't create plans that are just enough to get by. A good plan in a home remodeling and renovation or custom home addition is absolutely an essential step in the success of the project.

Our goal at Mountain Modern Design+Build is focused around a sustainable or energy efficiency focused design and building approach. This is zero energy ready. This method is going to vary with each project based on what the project is. Home additions & renovations are not going to have the same measured approach to energy efficiency as a custom home for example. An addition or remodel will have its own approach. Whether the addition is part of a whole house renovation project where additional energy efficiency focused measures may be included as part of the overall home remodeling and renovation. The detail that goes into plans and design, ensuring that that addition is being designed and built to last is something we consider and focus upon. Better than average insulation, advanced framing techniques or even insulated concrete form construction and a conditioned attic and sealed crawl space. Fresh air recovery, filtering and ventilation and windows with higher R-Values and UV transmission. And locating natural lighting to in the most energy efficiency focused manner possible are just a few examples.
