Mountain Modern Design+Build is a southwest Idaho based residential design-build on your land and urban infill focused sustainable custom homes and remodeling contractor, RESNET Energy Smart Certified Builder, and Zero Energy Ready Homes custom home design, drafting and construction management focused general contractor. Our built on your land custom new construction homes, urban infill custom building, additions and remodeling projects, shops, garage systems, outbuildings, outdoor living environments and custom building services are designed and built specifically to meet your individual needs, goals and dreams. This is our goal as a custom builder.
DESIGN
We utilize custom home design and drafting on our custom projects using our experienced inhouse design and drafting team as well working with trusted local architects, building designers and engineers. We focus on designing and building to fit your needs whether that be a design-build on your land sustainable custom homes and remodeling, and addition to an existing home or an accessory dwelling unit structure, a detached garage, shop or out building, or an outdoor living addition or remodeling project.
Our custom homes, home additions and remodeling or renovation projects are designed and constructed to meet the requirements of the Energy Star®, RESNET Energy Smart Builder, Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Homes and Indoor AirPlus requirements. Our custom homes, home additions and remodeling or renovation projects are designed and built with a focus around the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Universal Design guidelines and methods and the National Association of Remodeling Industry (NARI) Aging in Place guidelines and methods.
BUILDING SCIENCE AND FINE CRAFTSMANSHIP
We do this by utilizing proven building science, guidelines, methods and materials, constantly evolving new methods and materials focused on sustainable energy efficient design and building, and fine craftsmanship. Some of our methods we utilize include advanced framing or other alternative methods such as insulated concrete form (ICF) construction, super-insulated and airtight methods of constructing the exterior envelope, as well as indoor air quality focused heating, cooling and high performance energy recovery ventilation (ERV) systems that provide our clients with a custom home that is built better. CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
From our initial project consultation, to design and preconstruction, during the construction process and during post construction closeout, we value honesty and integrity above all else. As primarily a cost plus focused design and building construction management focused general contractor and builder, our budgeting and cost tracking is fully transparent and always available to our project owner(s). Throughout the building process we strive to hold weekly meetings with the our building design team, onsite construction management team and clients to encourage team synergy and communication.

Matt Fletcher, the owner and operator of Mountain Modern Design+Build is a 24 year military veteran and 25 year veteran of the building and construction trades as a carpenter and custom builder in the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas of southwest and central Idaho. He has a Associate of Applied Science in Drafting and Design Technolo
Matt Fletcher, the owner and operator of Mountain Modern Design+Build is a 24 year military veteran and 25 year veteran of the building and construction trades as a carpenter and custom builder in the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas of southwest and central Idaho. He has a Associate of Applied Science in Drafting and Design Technology with an emphasis in architectural design and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, In addition Matt has education and experience with the Passive House method of design and building, and training in the RESNET HERS® Certified Modeler method of sustainable efficient custom homes. He applies these principles in the design and building of custom homes, remodeling, renovations and additions. The experience gained as a custom builder, construction manager and custom carpenter lends itself to the design and building of custom shops, garages, custom carpentry and woodworking project as well. Along with this experience and training custom building and construction, Matt also has training and experience as a home inspector, receiving his home inspector training thru the American Home Inspector Training institute.

Onsite our building team is typically led by a project superintendent or foreman who is often skilled and experienced in not only the management of the building of sustainable energy efficient custom homes and remodeling projects, as well as our other building projects we undertake, but also a skilled and experienced carpenter or tradesperson in his or her own right. We feel this combination of both management and trades experience makes for an onsite management team that understands the building process better.
We utilize the expertise of skilled vendor professionals and engineers as well as design and drafting professionals and truss designers to make the bones of our building project happen and the skills of our subcontractors and trade professionals to help us instill the combination of proven building science methods and fine craftsmanship to build better.

This creates a unique blend of traditional and modern elements that is well suited to our home designs. Our homes & additions as well as other buildings we build are focused around elements that are required for sustainable energy efficiency focused structures. Utilizing designs focused on reducing thermal bridging and creating an air tight building envelope, high performance windows and doors, energy recovery ventilated HVAC systems and heat pump water heaters or tankless systems and super cool items like solar shingles and solar domestic hot water systems are an example of items common to our design scope and specifications.
