The owners of this project wanted to close of a master bedroom which was built as a mezzanine over the first floor of the home to give them additional space for exercise equipment and to eliminate sound transmission from below. The chose to utilize a COREtec® waterproof hardwood flooring system to finish off and extend the hard surface flooring. This flooring addition also gave them great natural lighting and views while working out or simply hanging out in the master bedroom space due to a large window filled wall system that was part of the existing homes design.
The owners wanted to maintain that rustic look that was part of the existing home so we utilized appearance grade rough saw lumber to create an exposed floor framing system. The exposed underside of the floor above is tongue and groove pine boards (siding style) with OSB subfloor material installed over the top and fastened thru to the beams and joists. The finished hardware is from the Simpson Strong-Tie Outdoor Accent Mission line that we use often on our custom built pergola systems.
